<p>Water-soluble alkali metal or ammonium compounds are added to slurries of nickeliferous oxide ores which are leached with sulfuric acid at temperatures between about 230.degree. and about 300.degree.C. The alkali metal or ammonium compound additions improve the handling characteristics of the slurry, nickel recoveries, settling rates and compaction rates and lower scaling rates.</p> |
