A device for anchoring the end of a twisted-strand cable comprises a set of three 120-deg. split taper collets forming a truncated cone which is drawn into a cavity of similar form by the tension in the cable. The end side faces of the collets are radial helicoidal surfaces which correspond in pitch to that of the cable strands. The internal surface has helical grooves with the same pitch, but slightly smaller radius than the cable strands. The collets are pref. formed from sintered metallic powder, giving an irregular surface with improved grip on the cable. The assembled collets can be driven along the cable by a bearing bush which allows them to rotate and screw themselves along the cable strands. |
