An electrical component includes a layer of material for sealing component off from the ambient atmosphere, the said material containing a filler having ion exchanger properties. The particular electrical component may be a selenium or silicon rectifier which may be enveloped in plastic or a capacitor. The filler may be a bentonite, zeolite or phenolformaldehyde resin. The material may be a silicone resin or an epoxy resin which may contain a silicone oil. In the specific embodiments, selenium rectifiers are scaled off by dipping them in a thixotropic lacquer composition using benzene, or xylene as a solvent, or by placing them in a container, potting with epoxy resin and finally sealing off with a material containing an ion-exchange filler. |
