<p>A device as disclosed for inserting and pushing a bar of square cross section into a press-piercing mill, the bar being disposed along a rolling and drilling axis of the mill. The device includes a first thrust means having a rectilinear direction of action. The thrust means is adapted to thrust the bar at a speed for introducing the bar into the mill. A second thrust means having a rectilinear direction of action is adapted for thrusting the bar at a speed for rolling and simultaneous drilling of the bar in the mill. The device also includes an actuator for simultaneously moving the two thrust means from a position in which the direction of action of the first thrust means coincides with the rolling axis and the direction of action of the second thrust means is a distance from the rolling axis, to a position in which the direction of action of the first thrust means is at a distance from the rolling axis and the direction of action of the second thrust means coincides with the rolling axis, and vice versa. With this device the loading time for the press-piercing mill is greatly reduced and the efficiency of the mill is accordingly increased.</p> |
