摘要 Pigment compositions, particularly for preparing printing dyes and lacquers, consist of an intimate mixture of a pigment, a non-ionic ethylene oxide-based dispersing agent, a natural or synthetic resin or cellulose derivative having a softening-point above 120 DEG C., and an antioxidant preferably in the proportions 30-65% pigment, 26-55% resin, 9-18% dispersing agent, and 0.1-2% antioxidant, by weight. The resin may be an oil-free alkyd, a maleate (maleic acid-polyol condensate, Examples 1, 3-6, 9, 10), a ketone-, or phenol-aldehyde resin, chlorinated rubber (Example 7), a cellulose ester or ether (cellulose acetobutyrate, Example 8) or the condensation product of an aromatic hydroxy sulphone, formaldehyde, an aromatic hydroxy carboxylic acid or an aryl-substituted hydroxy fatty acid or an ester thereof, and phenol, as disclosed in German Specification 1,124,959 (formaldehyde, 4,41-dihydroxydiphenylsulphone, salicylic acid + o-hydroxydiphenyl, Example 2). Suitable pigments are azo pigments, colour lakes, metal complex dyes, anthraquinones, quinacridones, titanium dioxide, compounds of iron, cadmium, chromium and zinc, and carbon black. Preferred dispersing agents contain 3-50 mols ethylene oxide and an alkanol, alkyl phenol, or carboxylic acid, in particular nonyl phenol. The anti-oxidant may be 2 - 21 - methylene - bis(4 - methyl - 6 - tertiary-butyl-phenol). In Example 1, 35-60 parts of the pigment preparation (based on a maleate resin) is then dispersed in 136 parts spirits, 10 parts ethylene glycol, 14 parts nitrocellulose and 5 parts ketone resin to form a printing dye and in Example 8, 35 parts of the pigment preparation (based on cellulose acetobutyrate) is then dispersed in 134 pts. ethyl acetate, 25 pts. methylene glycol acetate and 6 pts. cellulose acetobutyrate) also to form a printing dye.ALSO:Pigment compositions, particularly for preparing printing dyes and lacquers, consist of an intimate mixture of a pigment, a non-ionic ethylene oxide-based dispersing agent, a natural or synthetic resin or cellulose derivative having a softening-point above 120 DEG C., and an antioxidant, preferably in the proportions 30-65% pigment, 26-55% resin, 9-18% dispersing agent and 0.1-2% antioxidant, by weight. The compostions are prepared by kneading the constituents together at 70-150 DEG C. and cooling and grinding the resulting granulate. The products may be dispersed by simple stirring in mono- or polyhydric alcohols, esters, ketones or benzene hydrocarbons to form printing dyes or lacquers.
