984,710. Burner control systems. COMPAGNIE ELECTRO-MECANIQUE. April 10, 1963 [July 17, 1962], No. 14392/63. Heading F4T. [Also in Division G1] A burner control and safety circuit comprises a relay winding RF connected in parallel with the running winding I1 of a single-phase induction motor M which drives the blower and the fuel pump, the relay having a contact 1RF which controls the starting winding I2 of the motor M and the relay being controlled by a resistive photo-electric cell X so that when a flame exists the cell-resistance falls, and the cell X short-circuits the relay winding RF, and the contact 1RF opens. The relay RF also controls contacts 2RF which control a spark ignition transformer TA. A phaseshifter D is connected in series with the starting winding 12. Both the currents in the starting winding and in the running winding pass through a thermal circuit-breaker T, which, if the flame does not light and cut out the currents in the spark transformer and in the starting winding it opens a contact IT to de-energize the whole installation after a predetermined time. An impedance Z limits the current flowing in the relay winding RF and the photoelectric cell X in parallel with it. An electromagnetic valve may be connected in parallel with the running winding I1 of the motor M. The circuit is controlled by a space thermostat TH. |
