In a pneumatic weaving machine with a reed (1) formed from straight reed dents (2), channel-forming members (16) coming out of the shed or entering the latter in synchronism with the to-and-fro movement of the reed (1) are arranged in front of the latter on the throwing side. The channel-forming members (16) serve for forming a guide channel (13) for the weft thread, which is open on its side facing the reed (1), and are designed as jet nozzles, each with a jet outlet orifice (14) arranged above and below the guide channel (13). Both the stress on the warp threads (5, 6) caused by the channel-forming members (16) and the mass of the slay are thereby kept as low as possible. <IMAGE>
