NEW MATERIAL:20-Deoxodesmycosin (20-deoxo-4'-demycarosyltylosin) or its salt. USE:Having strong antibacterial activity against Gram-positive bacterial, a remedy for infectious diseases, a remedy for animals, and food additive. PROCESS:A CHO group at 19 position of tylosin is reduced in such mild conditions preferably as it is not reduced a CO group at 9 position so that the CHO group is converted into CH2OH group. The OH of CH2OH group at 19 position is tosylated with p-toluenesulfonyl halide in the presence of preferably a tertiary amine. p- Toluenesulfonate is removed in reductive manners with NaI and Zn, converted into a CH3 group to give a compound shown by the formula. |
