1,079,444. Hot water boilers; finned heat exchange elements. RADIATION Ltd. Feb. 24, 1964 [March 5, 1963], No. 8761/63. Headings F4A and F4S. In a gas-fired water-heater a heat-exchanger is of corrosion resistant material and has a substantially rectangular cross-section which forms a water passage, the longer sides of the rectangle having external fins 5. The fins are U- or L-shaped and may have gaps along the limbs, or the fins may be formed by corrugated sheets with the troughs secured to the heatexchanger. When a number of heat-exchangers are placed side-by-side the fins are in contact and of opposite inclination. Ties extending through the passage between the longer sides prevent the walls from bowing. The heatexchanger may be divided into a number of superimposed water passages. |
