Apparatus intended to facilitate the folding of cloth or similar objects by a person alone. A moving part (5) which may pivot in a vertical plane about two shafts (4), is guided by ports (2) provided in the support piece (1). The part (5), owing to the ports (2), may be spaced from the piece (1) to facilitate the setting in place of the cloth. One side of the cloth is folded and is positioned between the piece (1) and the part (5); the part (5) is brought as close as possible to the piece (1), and the person may then pull from the other side of the cloth to stretch and finish the folding. The ports (2), and the oval shape of the shaft (4), allow to fold objects of variable thickness.
