Steam driven electricity generation plant - uses double acting steam driven reciprocating piston to drive linear AC generators

Steam is generated in a boiler (5) passed through a throttle (15) governed by a feedback mechanism (14) measuring the piston speed, enters a steam chest (4) and is applied to the appropriate side of the double acting piston (3) by valving coupled to the piston shaft (8). The same coupling controls the exhaust steam valving (6,7). The reciprocating motion of the piston drives linearly operated alternating current generators (10,11). The steam motor described above may be replaced by a high and low pressure cylinder. Alternatively, only one AC generator may be used.
