The roofing or cladding panel for buildings comprises at least one carrier layer in fibrous material with a polymer bonding agent, and a number of superimposed layers of fibres. At least part of the fibres in these superimposed layers are bonded by intertwining in a felting process of the like, and/or by application of a mixt. consisting oa polymeric bonding agent and a mineral filler distributed over and bonded to the superimposed layers, the entire panel structure being cut and compressed into the required shape profile. The superimposed layers pref. consist of natural, e.g. vegetable fibres and may contain a small proportion of artificial fibres. One or each carrier layer may form a panel surface and preferably comprises polymer-impregnated paper or the like. This may be combined with polymerisable thermo-plastic fibres and contain impermeable, fire-resistant and/or light reflecting agents. Used for fibre-based roofing or cladding panel. The panel has greater bearing strength and is cheaper than GRP panels, reflects solar radiation, provides sound and heat insulation, can be fire-retardant, does not deteriorate with age, has low wt. and can be made to have cellular structure formed by internal air chambers. It can be mfd. making extensive use of reclaimed waste material.
|
