The hydraulic braking system is for a motor vehicle, the switching point of the braking force regulator being accurately adjusted. The regulator operates as a function of the load. The piston in the valve chamber of the regulator housing is attached to a lever, which in turn is linked to a spring counteracting the force of the hydraulic fluid. The point of attachment of the spring (3) of the actuator lever (4) is set to an accurately defined position before the regulator is fitted. It is then adjusted to a second position (3') after the regulator is fitted. The distance between the two settings corresponds to the travel of the spring (5).
