High speed stability radial tyre - rubber damping layer with specified elasticity lies between cord bands and tread

A radial tyre has a toroidal carcass, a girdle of several crossed layers of steel core filaments at 10-30 degrees to the centre plane of the tyre, two cord bands with organic fibres passing round the circumference of both ends of the girdle (heat-shrinkable material and laid parallel to the centre plane), and a grooved rubber tread laid on the cord layer. A rubber damping layer lies between the cord and tread and has a modulus of loss of elasticity 2-12 kg/cm2 and elasticity of recoil 60-85%. Very good stability at high speeds.
