PURPOSE:To improve sealing capacity of a hydraulic shock absorber in which the inner portion of its cylinder is divided by a movable wall into an oil chamber and a gas chamber by a method wherein the oil chamber and the gas chamber are communicated with an enclosed space formed between both corner portion of a ringed grove on the periphery of a movable wall and an O-ring fixed in the ringed groove. CONSTITUTION:A hydraulic shock absorber (a) used as a body suspension device in an autobicycle and the like is divided into an oil chamber (a) which reserves operating fluid in a cylinder 1 by the use of a movable wall 8 and a gas chamber (b) which reserves inert gas such as nitrogen gas and the like. The movable wall 8 provides a ringed groove 9 on its outer periphery, and an O-ring 10 is inserted in this groove. The O-ring rotates in the ringed groove 9 with vertical motion of the movable wall 8, is in contact with an upper, a lower and a side wall and an engclosed space (is formed between groove corners and the ring. So as to discharge the oil and the gas which has been brought it this space (c), an elastic ring 11 having a notch 11a on is provided on the upper and lower side wall of the ringed groove 9 and the space (c) is communicated with the oil chamber (a) or the gas chamber (b) through the notch 11a. |
