PURPOSE:To efficiently utilize the emission from a cathode-ray tube by making the emission from a luminescent surface to be transmitted through a meshlike control electrode and a meshlike accelerating electrode to be discharged outside the tube, and by making this emission to be reflected by a reflector to be discharged outside the tube. CONSTITUTION:A negative voltage relative to the potential of a negative electrode 6 is applied to a control electrode 7; a positive voltage relative to the potential of the negative electrode 6 is impressed to an accelerating electrode 12; and a higher voltage than that of the accelerating electrode 12 is applied to a luminescent surface 17. An electron current 20 which is discharged from the negative electrode 6 illuminates the entire fluorescent surface 17. Emission 21 from the luminescent surface 17 is transmitted through the meshes of the accelerating electrode 12 and the control electrode 7, and it is discharged through a window 5 of an upper housting 2 outside a tube 1. Diverging emissions 22 are reflected by a reflecting surface 18, transmitted by the meshes of the accelerating electrode 12 and the control electrode 7, and then discharged forward through the window 5 of the housing 2. |
