A foldable furniture assembly which has extended and closed positions and which is to be folded and stored in the closed position in a minimum amount of space. The assembly has first and second frames (5, 60) mounted for pivotal movement about vertical and horizontal axes (21, 16) respectively. The first frame has a seat subframe (32) pivotally mounted about a horizontal axis and the second frame supports a table top (66). The first frame is offset to one side relative to a vertical median axis through the second frame. When moving the assembly from an extended position to a closed position, the first and second frames and the seat sub-frame are pivoted about their respective axes so that the frames overlap one another in the closed position. Preferably, the assembly is mounted in a cabinet (1) in the form of a Welsh Dresser and can be used in a kitchen to provide table and seats when required. |
