The video display is for an ultrasonic scanner and has a piezoelectric target (4) scanned by an electron beam (S) and moved by the echo signals from the subject. The rear of the target is coated with a conducting raster with a set emission coefficient. The piezoelectric sheet translates the echo signals into electric charges on the rear raster coating. This alters the secondary emission of electrons with the resulting pattern scanned by an imaging tube (12) linked to the CRT display. The ultrasonic signals are transferred from the subject to the target by an enclosed fluid chamber (21).
