The multi-purpose pump can be used for any kind of medium, even those containing matter in suspension and comprises a housing in which the rotor is fitted. The rotor comprises a rotary housing (5) inside an outer housing (1), in the central area of which a casing (6) is rotatably fitted on a carrier. This casing is connected with the inner wall of the housing (5) by a flexible strip which forms star-fashion wave-formation spaces (13,14). On the pump side connected to the medium to be handled and on the inner wall of a closure cover which has inlet and outlet apertures, a control pin is eccentrically fitted and fits in a recess (10) in the carrier.
