Hydraulic brake control with min. pedal travel - has two master cylinders actuating in parallel to slave cylinders with different moments

The remote controlled hydraulic brake for motor vehicles has two separate master brake cylinders operated in parallel by the brake pedal (2). A larger capacity cylinder (5) provides a large amount of fluid to bring the brake pads into contact. A smaller capacity cylinder (15) is set nearer the brake pedal pivot (1) and provides the brake force when the pads are in contact, both via slave cylinders. When a set pressure is reached in the smaller cylinder it closes off the connection (25) to the larger cylinder and allows an integral spring (17) to take up the brake pedal travel. The brakes are rapidly brought into contact no matter how worn the pads are.
