The changeable ink-ribbon cassette has two parallel spools with end clutches for the drive, between which the ribbon is wound to and fro. The drive is changed-over by feelers acting against the spools. On each side of the receiving spool (10) is a chamfer (11,12), engaging under the feeler (9) so as to lift it automatically on axial movement of the cassette (5). The chamfer can be formed by a cone integral with the spool, and also with the spool clutch.
