Gas discharge flash tube with ignition electrodes - has metallic layer on outer surface of tube with supply lead

The gas discharge flashlight tube is fitted with ignition electrode so that connection to the power supply lead is electrically and mechanically stable. The tube comprises a gass-filled glass bulb with a gas discharge space between two electrodes. The ignition electrode is fitted on the outside of the bulb and is linked to a supply cable. The outer surface of the glass is coated with an intermediate metallic layer (10). The supply lead (4) is soldered or welded to the intermediate layer. The intermediate layer is applied to the glass in the form of a paste and then heat-treated.
