The Parent Patent describes a storage and mixing cartridge for multi-component casting resins, in which the separate cells for the components are separated by a partition of pot-shape made of metal foil with a plastics coating; this plastics coating is seal-welded to the casing of the cartridge to form a tight joint. The cartridge contains a releasing and mixing device, typically a piston with a spike for piercing the partition. In the Patent of Addition, the piston rod is a hollow tube already connected to the piston. Pref. the outer end of the tube is closed by a temporary plug. Pref. also, the piston is located as near as possible to the partition and there may be a separate extension rod which can be fixed to it. This rod is then used for driving the piston during the mixing process. Used in partic. for a setting resin in which one component is the resin and the other the hardener. The arrangement enables the bottom closure of the cartridge to be particularly simply mfd. and obviates the need for the piston rod to be inserted afterwards, since it is already connected to the piston. The separate rod extension, if used, is to provide the necessary stroke and it is removed before the mixture is discharged, whereupon the bore is used as the discharge spout for the mixed resin.
|
