A pharmacol.-active substance useful for treating heart and cardiovascular ailments was isolated from C. forskohlii by extg. the dried, ground plant material with a 5-10≦̸C hydrocarbon and then with a 1-6≦̸C halogenated hydrocarbon, evapg. the ext., sepg. the desired substance from the residue by column chromatog., and recrystg. the product. The desired substance has m.p. 228-30.5≦̸C mol. formula C22H34O7, and mol. wt. 410, and was characterized by UV, IR, mass, and NMR spectrometry.
