METHOD OF TRANSMITTING LIQUID BETWEEN SEPARATED ACTIVATION COMPARTMENTS FOR BIOLOGICAL PURIFICATION OF WATER AND APPARATUS FOR PERFORMING THE SAME

A method of transmitting liquid between separated activation compartments for biological water purification based upon the application of pressure induced by the stream of liquid in the individual activation compartments due to aeration of said liquid. Such effect is achieved owing to the fact that the inlet holes of transmitting passages between the separated compartments are located in the area of lower velocity of flow of the liquid than the velocity of flow of the same at the outlet holes of the transmitting passages. Such method is easily applicable particularly for vertical tanks. The compensation of pressure losses in the individual compartments, and thus the ensuring of equal levels of liquid within these compartments can be carried out by means of the dynamic pressure of the flow of liquid in the activation area or by means of Bernoulli's pressure of the flow of liquid, or, possibly, by combining both these pressures. In this way the air distribution within the aerated system can be simplified along with improved tank volume usage.
