NEW MATERIAL:3-O-( beta-D-xylofuranosyl )-4-O-( 2, 6-diamino-2, 6-dideoxy-alpha-D- glucopyranosyl)-(1L)-1,3,5/2,4-5-aminocyclohaxanetetrol of the formula having the following physicochemical properties. Crystalline powder. Melting point: Indistinct and turns light yellow at 165 deg.C or above and yellow at 170 deg.C, and foams at 177 deg.C. [alpha]D+36.9+ or -0.8 deg. (c=1.021, water). Elementary analysis: C, 39.36(39.38)%; H, 7.32(7.78)%; N, 7.60(8.10)% (values in the parentheses are theoretical ones calculated as C17H33N3O11.3.5H2O). Positive to the ninhydrin and Molisch reactions; negative to the Fehling reaction, etc. USE:A medicine, a veterinary drug and disinfectant having an antimicrobial activity. PROCESS:A strain, e.g. Bacillus circulans S-11 (FERM-P No.5220), is cultivated at pH5.5-8.5 and 20-40 deg.C, preferably by the submerged culture method with aeration. |
