NEW MATERIAL:A weakly basic compound containing nitrogen amylostatin T. Appearance: White powder. Melting point: 143-145 deg.C. Molecular weight: 483. Molecular formula: C19H33O13N. Specific rotatory power: [alpha]D<24> 137 deg. (C=3, H2O). Solubility: Soluble in water, methanol, pyridine, etc.; insoluble in benzene and chloroform. Color reactions: Positive to the silver nitrate -NaOH, phenol, sulfuric acid reactions; negative to the ninhydrin reaction. USE:An inhibitor against a glycoside hydrolase and an immune enhancer, useful for prevention and treatment of obesity, diabetes, etc. and diagnosis of pancreatitis or prevention and treatment of cancer or protection against infection. PROCESS:An amylase inhibitor amylostatin produced by an actinomyces belonging to the genus Streptomyces is hydrolyzed by an acid, e.g. hydrochloric acid, to give amylostatin T. The hydrolysis is carried out by a 1.0-6.0N acid at 80-120 deg.C for 1.0-6.0hr. |
