PURPOSE:To obtain an optical fiber bundle which is large in the space factor of the picture element and also is long, by bundling plural optical fibers, fixing each optical fiber at one end of same, and executing the heating and wire drawing of the bundle of optical fibers from the fixed end part side. CONSTITUTION:For instance, the bundle 10 is obtained by concentrically arraying 19 pieces of optical fibers 20 so that 1 piece, 6 pieces and 12 pieces are put in the center, the first layer and the second layer, respectively. All the optical fiber 20 are fixed in one body by welding or gluing a glass rod 11 to one end of the bundle 10. The array of the optical fibers 20 of the other end of the bundle 10 is made to correspond to that of one end, and the outside circumference of the bundle 10 is supported by the gas pipe 12, etc. Subsequently, the tip of the glass rod 11 is placed between the drawing-in rolls 14, heating the bundle 10 by the electric furnace 13, and the optical fiber bundle 10a consisting of the optical fibers 20 of 19 cores by drawing it at a constant speed and executing the heating and wire drawing. Furthermore, the optical fiber 10a is made a new optical fiber, and the optical fiber bundles 10b, 10c are obrained by means of the same manufacturing method. In this way, the optical fiber bundle which is large in the space factor of the picture element and also is long. |
