PURPOSE:To continually adjust the area of an opening of a diaphragm for X-ray monitor so as to reduce the intensity of an X-ray to a predetermined level and cause the thus-reduced X-ray to irradiate a counter, by forming the opening, through which X-ray is transmitted, with mutually-opposed fixed members and a sliding member movable transverse the fixed members. CONSTITUTION:Mutually-opposed fixed members 1, 3 and an oblique member 2, which is oblique to the fixed members 1, 3, are each fixed while presenting a knife edge. The fixed member 1 has a fulcrum 5. One end of a sliding member 4 is supported by the fixed member 1 at the fulcrum 5 while the other end of the sliding member 4 is supported by a fine adjustment mechanism 6. Upon an actuation of the fine adjustment mechansim 6, the sliding member 4 is turned about the fulcrum 5. The movement of the sliding member 4 changes the area A of an opening surrounded by the knife edge of each of the fixed members 1, 2, 3 as well as the side face knife edge of the sliding member 4. In the above arrangement, the intensity of each incident X-ray can be reduced in accordance with the sensitivity characteristic of a proportional counter, thus providing an easily adjustable diaphragm. |
