In order to give a more versatile form of fixing pin, and to avoid damage to the head when driving the pin into a wall, the pin (1) and its head (4) are two separate pieces. The spike, or pin, (1) terminates in a flange (2) in which there is a blind hole (3). This may have a recess (8) as part of a lock. The head (4), typically rectangular, has a split shank (5,6) which fits into the hole (3) in the spike. The shank may have projections (7) which engage with the recess (8) in the spike. The fixing pin is typically used to support wire mesh wall cladding to which plastering can subsequently be applied. Alternatively it may be used to attach cable clips to the wall.
|
