PURPOSE:To obtain a high surface hardness, by performing the nitriding surface processing after the high chromium stainless steel is grinded in the atmosphere where nitrogen gas of a specific value or less of the vapour capacity content is main component. CONSTITUTION:The high chromium stainless steel is grinded in the gas nitriding furnace under the atmosphere where nitrogen gas contg. 2.5% or less vapour capacity content is main component. Next, the known nitriding surface processing is performed; however, if the nitriding surface processing is performed after this stainless steel is held in said atmosphere for a fixing time to prevent the chromate film of Cr2O3 and Cr3O4 from being generated on the stainless steel surface, this method is more effective. |
