The microscope objective comprises a cylindrical barrel (1) and an objective mount tube (2) carrying an immersion lens (11) at the front (immersion liquid 12). The tube (2) can be axially raised against a spring (3). A sleeve (8), which shows the relevant details of the objective, surrounds the barrel and is rotatable on the barrel so that the information can be read in any position of the (revolving) objective. This sleeve is secured (7,9,10) to the tube (2) and moves with it when the tube is raised. It may be secured to the tube adjacent to the immersion front lens mount.
