Swarf removal from machining area of cutting tool - uses air suction on one side, assisted by blown air at other or both sides of tool

The arrangement is intended for removing cutting swarf from the machining area of e.g. a milling tool (2) by air suction (5). The effect of the suction flow is assisted by at least one flow of air (8) blowing in the same direction. The blown flow may be directed from a greater distance across the machining area into the suction flow. The blown flow may be directed upwardly away from the machining plane into the suction flow (5). A second air flow may be blown directly into the suction flow. The suction duct may conically diverge (7) towards the intake opening whilst the outlet of the blow duct (6) is formed by a broad slot.
