Anchor plates (24,26) which are used for the assembly of furniture elements (10,12) are located in longitudinal slots (18,22) which are provided in the elements (10,12). The anchor plates in the perpendicular elements are secured by screws (30,32). On assembly, the anchor plate (26) with a clearance hole (40) for a bolt (28), locates against the second plate (24) which is provided with a tapped hole (38). A detachable joint between the two elements is thus produced.
