<p>The hollow (3) rivet is intended for securing different plate thicknesses. It is set without access to the closing end by withdrawing a frangible core from the insert end. It comprises a head (1) and a shank (2), which has a portion (l1) of reduced wall thickness formed by a larger-dia. (d2) portion of the central bore (3). The bore (3) may be stepped (4) and the portion (3b) may extend to the surface of the head. The portion (3b) may be cylindrical or may diverge conically towards the head. The rivet can be in any material, including steel.</p> |
