(Di)thiocarboxylic acid phenoxybenzyl esters of formula (I) are new, (where R is an open-chain or cyclic alkyl residue opt. substd. by halogen, alkyl, cycloalkyl, alkenyl (opt. in turn substd. by halogen), styryl (opt. in turn substd. by halogen or halogen- substd. alkyl, alkoxy, alkylthio or alkylenedioxy) or phenyl (opt. in turn substd. by halogen or opt. halo-substd. alkyl, alkoxy, alkanediyl, alkylenedioxy or alkylthio); R1 is H, alkyl, alkenyl, alkynyl or CN; R2 and R3 are H or halogen; and X and Y are O or S, provided that at least one of them is S). (I) are pesticides, esp. insecticides and acaricides which are well tolerated by plants and which have favourable toxicity towards warm-blooded animals. They are suitable for use in agriculture, forestry, stored products and materials protection, and the hygiene sector.
