A helix, assembled from a number of parts, with chisel holders, and a closing ring turned towards the worked face, are mounted on a tubular base unit, in a cutter roller (used in mines). The chisel holders are mounted on helix pieces which can be detached and interchanged by means of tools, and/or on detachable, interchangeable parts of the ring. Pref. only the outward facing helix pieces are attached by screws on an otherwise continuous monolithic basic helix.
