Pathogen-free foetal cell preparations prodn. - from aseptically obtd. foetal organs by shock freezing in liq. nitrogen and homogenising in Ringer soln.

Prodn. of deep-frozen, germ-free and zoonosis-free cell preparations from bovine foetus etc. is claimed. A surface of the uterus in which the incision is to be made for removal of the foetus is heated with a hot open flame until carbonisation occurs; organs and organ parts are removed from the foetus under sterile conditions and shock frozen at -196 deg.C; a shock-frozen organ or organ part (e.g. spleen) is weighed out and coarsely comminuted while still in the frozen state; Ringer soln. (DAB7) is added to the comminuted material in an amt. of 10 ml per 400 mg organ material and mixed. The organ/Ringer solution mixt. is then finely comminuted with prevention of the admixt. of atmospheric microbes by means of a comminution head producing a flow in the direction of the surface of the mixt.; the resulting suspension is passed through a fine sieve and filled into disposable injection ampoules; and the prod. stored at -79 deg.C. The end products are intended for use in cellular therapy. The products are suitable for prolonged storage without any loss in activity.
