PURPOSE:To maintain the vapor pressure of metals which are charged in an emission tube, and increase the emission spectrum of a high-pressure metal vapor discharge lamp by providing electrodes on one end of the emission tube, and providing a partition wall, which shields the electrodes from each other, on the other end of the emission tube. CONSTITUTION:An emission tube 6 made of a translucent silica glass, one end of which is pressed to form a sealing part 7, is charged with either a mixture gas of a rare gas with mercury, or a mixture gas of a rare gas with mercury and at least one of cadmium, zinc or the like. A partition wall 12, which shields electrodes 10, 10 from each other and whose lower extremity is lower than the lower ends 9a of emitter 9 and 9, is provided on the inner wall of the tube 6 which is opposite to the sealing part 7. since the two electrodes 10, 10 which reach high temperatures through discharge are provided, the heat developed at the emitter 9, 9 is conducted through their respective lead wires 8, 8 and raises the temperature of the sealing part 7. |
