PURPOSE:A detergent or lotion for preventing dandruff comprising 2-hexyloxybenzamide which has an antimicrobial and antiseborrheic actions against microorganisms causing the dandruff. CONSTITUTION:A composition which is generally used for a detergent or lotion is incorporated with 0.1-5wt%, preferably 0.5-3wt%, a 2-hexyloxybenzamide expressed by the formula to give a detergent or lotion for preventing the occurrence of dandruff, itching feeling and protection of the scalp and hair associated with seborrheic dermatitis causing inflammation and loss of hair sometimes in pityriasis capitis (seborrhea sicca, commonly called dandruff), and its worsened state. The compound of the formula has the antiseborrheic action and the antimicrobial action against microorganisms, e.g. Pityrosporum ovale, causing the dandruff and the antiseborrheic action to prevent the propagation of keratin and hypersecretion of sebum. |
