An improved process for the preparation of steroidal DELTA 4,6dienones by the electrochemical dehydrogenation of the corresponding DELTA 3,5enol ethers under basic conditions, using less than stochiometric amounds of a high potential catalyst, such as 2,3-dichloro-5,6-dicyano-benzoquinone, in a partially aqueous electrolyte solution.
