The Specification relates to power-distribution installations of the sort in which channel-shaped track members support elongated conductors with which current connectors (e.g. lamp mounts) may connect at any position. The claims are directed to the channel - shaped track member which consists of two U-shaped channels with a common partition in combination with a supporting member which engages in the top U and an insulated conductor support which carries electrical conductors and is supported in the bottom U. Fig. 8 shows a section through the channel-shaped track member 11 which may be formed of extruded aluminium and comprises two U-shaped channels 15, 16 having a common partition 17, channel 15 having flanges 20 and channel 16 having flanges 23, 24. Conductors 39, 40 (40 being the neutral earth conductor) are supported in an insulating strip 30 with legs 35, 36, and lips 41, 42 which prevent access to the conductors in other than a horizontal direction. Conductor support 30 is described and claimed in Specification 1,000,923. Legs 35, 36 react against channel flanges 23, 24, thus biasing strip base 31 against partition 17, also strip base 31 is secured to wall 17 by thermally upsetting portions of base 31 into adjacent recesses 33 in partition 17 (Fig. 9). Specification 1,000,924 described and claims the channelshaped member 11 with polarity bead 25 which ensures correct polarity of connection of equipment to the track, the connection being made by using a connector as described and claimed in Specification 1,000,925. The track support is claimed in Specification 1,000,929. Legs 55, 56 of a spring clip supported from a screw 53 are forced apart by a screw 60 so that recesses 57, 58 engage flanges 20 on the channel. The track end closure assembly is claimed in Specification 1,000,926. A cap for the end of the track remote from the power connection end consists of an insulated end closure 140 (Figs. 9 and 10) which fits against the end of the track and has two portions projecting into the track interior. One portion 141 fits tightly into the conductor channel 16 and the other portion 146 forms a tongue which with a leaf-spring 147 grips flanges 20, tooth 150 in the spring engaging a recess 151 in the flange. The track end power connector assembly is claimed in Specification 1,000,927 and is shown in Fig. 4. Cables are brought from junction-box 125 through aperture 90 and enter spaced lobes 101, 102 of an insulating connector block 100 where they make contact with the upper part of internal conducting clips 105 (Fig. 6). The track conductors 39, 40 enter the other end of the connector block and make contact with the lower part of the clips. Fingers 102 provided on the ends of lobe 102 (Figs. 3 and 5, not shown) enter corresponding slots in the conductor strip 30 thus ensuring that the connector block is connected the right way round, e.g. lobe 102 aligned with the neutral earth conductor 40. The block is encased between a moulding 72, which closes the track and is held in position by a leaf-spring which grips the channel flanges 20, and a plastic cover 110 which snaps on to moulding 72. |
