<p>A method and a restraining device for improving both arm and leg strokes of a swimmer are provided. The restraining device comprises first and second band members each adapted for securement to an arm or leg and an elongated chain connecting the band members together. An attaching clip can be provided on each band member for engaging a selected link in the chain whereby the point of attachment of the chain is adjustable. When the device is used on an arm, one band member is attached to the wrist and the other is attached to the upper portion of the arm. One restraining device is used on each arm so that each arm is prevented from being straightened as the arm is lifted out of the water and is retained in a desired position as the arm re-enters the water. When the device is used on the legs, one band member is attached to one leg and the other is attached to the other leg, the point of attachment in each case being just below the knee. The legs are thus kept close together and the stroke of both legs is limited.</p> |
