Title compds. (I; R,R1 = halo, C1-3 alkyl, alkoxy, dialkylamino), useful as local antiinflammatory agents, were pepared. Thus, 540 g anisil(4,4'-dimethoxybenzyl) was treated with 222 g semicarbazide-HCl, 180 g sodium acetate and 2.5L acetic acid to give 434 g 3-hydroxy-5,6-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,2,4-triazine, which(10 g) was chlorinated with POCl3 to give 9 g 3-chloro-5,6-bis(4-methoxyphenyl)-1,2,4-triazine. At 100μg/12cm2 I(R = R1 = OMe) gave 46% inhibition of UV edema in guinea pigs.
