[Also in Division H2] A reciprocating motor has a C-shaped frame 111 carrying on one leg 135, a coil 115 and on the other leg a leaf spring 114 which supports an armature 112 operatively connected to a fluid pump 117 mounted on the base of the frame. A further leaf spring is attached at one end to the side of armature 112 remote from the pump and carries at its other end screw 115 which screws into housing 150 on the pump. In operation when coil 115 is energized, armature 112 oscillates in a curvilinear manner and drives housing 119 of the pump in rectilinear manner to evacuate a vessel connected to conduit 127. The fluid pump has a body 129, which is secured on frame 111 by lock nut 133, and carries a diaphragm 120 secured also to the reciprocating housing 119. An inlet valve 125 is provided in body 129 and an outlet valve 126 and exhaust silencer 154 in housing 119. The position of pump 117 relative to the armature can be adjusted by means of screw 155.
