Dye compsn. for whitening and brightening of cellulosic material, comprises colour index dye 47 and colour index dye 49 in a wt. ratio of 10:1 to 1:10, esp. 4:1 to 1:4. The colour index dye 49 is pref. an acid violet of the triphenylmethane type (colour index No.42640) and the colour index 47 dye is an acid violet of the anthraquinone type. The dye combination is added e.g. at 0.0001-0.05 wt. % to aq. cellulose pulp, opt. together with 0.01-10 wt. % TiO2 and/or BaSO4. The dye combination is esp. useful for improving the appearance of thermomechanical cellulose pulps of the type used in absorbent articles such as sanitary towels, napkins, etc., which otherwise have a poor colour and are not attractive to customers. |
