[Class 108 (i).] The plant for illuminating aircraft landing grounds is mounted on only two vehicles with or without an auxiliary trailer and comprises means for indicating the borders of the ground, lamps for indicating obstructions, signalling apparatus, wind - direction indicators and dynamos for supplying the light. As shown, the vehicles comprise two trucks 30, 32 and a trailer 33. The truck 30 is provided with a dynamo for supplying current for the landing area lights, and the truck 32 is provided with a dynamo 21 for supplying current to the boundary beacons 17 or 31 by a lead 37. This truck, Fig. 2, also carries cable rolls 20 on horizontal bars 16, the ends of which may be raised and lowered by screw means, signalling lamps 19, a switch board 22 and obstruction lamps 18. The trailer carries a wind-direction indicator in the form of an aeroplane, the tail and wing tips of which fold on to the main body and is provided with illuminating lights 27 and is pivoted on a vertical standard 23. A cable roll 28 and locker 29 are also carried. The beacons, Fig. 7, are provided with a transformer 2 in the rounded base 3 and with lamps 5, the beacons being self-righting. The obstruction lamps 7, Fig. 5, on the hangars &c. are either strapped or clipped in position. |
