PURPOSE:To efficiently product CO with a simple apparatus by condensing laser beams in CO2 gas to cause dielectric breakdown. CONSTITUTION:CO2 gas is charged into reactor 1 from CO2 cylinder 4, and laser besms generated from laser generator 2 are condensed on point P of CO2 gas filled reactor 1 with condenser 3 to explosively generate plasma. By the explosive generation plasma, that is, dielectric breakdown the light energy is efficiently converted into heat energy to instantaneously attain a high temp., whereby CO2 is converted into CO and O2. The reaction products in reactor 1 are passed through CaO column 5 using N2 or other carrier gas to remove the residual CO2, and then they are passed through an ammoniac soln. of cuprous chloride in vessel 6 to allow the CO to be absorbed and recover it. |
