<p>A flowmeter comprises a support frame (11,12) within which a vertical transparent tube (2) containing a float (20) is located. The float moves against a scale (21) as fluid flows in the tube to the upper section where a horizontal tube (22) is mounted containing a quarter turn valve (4). This is operated by a knob (41) on a shaft (40) and which indicates against a scale (43). A permanent magnet (5) in the knob reacts with contacts in a bulb assembly (7) to signal that the valve is open or closed. This information is compared with the float position opto electronic cell (3) and detector (30) output transmitted via cables (31,32) to a remote signalling station. The flowmeter is used to control the lower flow threshold in such applications as telecommunications cables which are sealed under gas pressure.</p> |
