PURPOSE:To form corrosion-resistant coating, which resists to severe conditions, on the surface of copper, silver, or their alloys, by making benzotriazoles stick to said metal or alloy, then by heating said metal or alloy in an oxygen-contg. atmosphere at a specific temp. range. CONSTITUTION:Copper, silver, or their alloys are immersed in a soln. of benzotriazoles (e.g. methylbenzotriazole) and are dried at 100-160 deg.C, preferably 105-150 deg.C temp. to form corrosion-resistant coating. It is necessary to dry said metal or alloy in an oxygen-contg. atmosphere e.g. in the air. A thickness >=80Angstrom is desired in order to resist to severe sulfurizing atmosphere. Higher aliphatic amide, higher aliphatic amine, or polyoxyethylene addition product may be added to the benzotriazole. |
